WBL – Work-Based Learning

Work-Based Learning (WBL, TOPI) is a process used at Laurea that allows students to recognize and validate the skills they have acquired through real work experience. These competences can be credited as part of the student’s degree.

How Does It Work?

Your WBL journey starts with an evaluation of your current work tasks to identify existing competences and areas for further development.

If your work experience matches the learning objectives of a module or course in your degree program, you can be eligible to earn study credits directly through your job.

Next Steps

Once a match between your work competences and your study program is found, you can book a consultation with one of the Digital Living Lab coaches.
During this meeting, you'll receive detailed guidance on how your work-based learning can be formally recognized as part of your degree.

Support and Guidance

The Digital Living Lab coaches can also help you with the monitoring and documentation process, which typically involves collaboration between you, your workplace supervisor, and possibly your employer.
